Why is the concept of compromise disfavored in American politics?
I think it’s because once compromise comes into play, then it may seem like a politician is weak-willed somehow. Compromise equates to being infirm in your own beliefs; people would say that the politicians are giving in to the other party, rather than seeing it as a means to unify government. Compromise may as well be surrender. Even outside of politics, coming to a compromise can be viewed as though it’s something of a lose-lose.
